How To Make Money In Music In A Recession?

Statistics show that the biggest opportunities are formed in challenging markets during distressed times. Music is no different although digital downloads has hurt the CD segment of music sales  however file sharing has not. Now with more music online than ever before you must  find ways to become more creative whether its free downloads, free shows, you-tube videos. The name of the game is exposure, exposure, exposure. More artist are leaning towards endorsements from manufacturers of electronics, clothing, alcohol, TV etc.  Anything to keep their brand relevant for the masses. Upcoming artist are taking to the streets and online more than ever before. The most important thing is to be creative both musically and visually. Stand out from the competition by expanding your marketplace from just locally to regionally then nationally. In a recession advertisement tends to be less expensive allowing you to maximize your return on a minimal investment. Think brand association because the general public will assume your brand is similar to whatever it is associated with. Make sure everyone knows what you do, word of mouth is the fastest form of promotion don't be afraid to utilize social media but be careful not to oversaturate. Remember scarcity creates demand! You can consider competitive pricing but deliver greater quality at the same time.  Packaging and Image is everything take your time with your graphics .
