I recently spoke to an independant artist asking me to help him advance his career. He asked "What am I doing wrong". His problem was he was in a small market and had developed some material but didnt have the captial to promote and market the material . I suggested burning  the music on to cd , even though it wasnt mixed and mastered. If you start out with 50 cds and go to your local mall or any heavily populated area . Allow people to listen to the music and accept donation if they appreciate the work .Also dont be afraid to gather email addresses this is a sure way to keep a database on fans . Thus insuring that you have a place to market your future material. Dont be afraid of NO because honestly its someones first reaction . Your job is to get out there and spread the music the money will come after.
