Rap music is an art form that expresses the reality of experiences that the artist are faced with. However there are some artist that choose to embelish in the glory of violent behavior but never witnessed or lived out any of these actions . For instance 50cent is a great rapper and intelligient business man . Do you think he is still robbing, shooting and selling drugs ? Probally not but the general public views him as a threat to society based on his lyrical content. I believe that rap music has a negative stigma attached to it . Take look at people such as Common, Talib Kweli, Mos Def and Kanye West  they convey a postive message without any violence. In some cases the violence in the music can become excessive . I love real rap that I can feel in my spirit but sometimes us as artist dont take into consideration our audience . We get caught up in what sounds tough or whats selling when we should remember our kids, mothers and sisters are also listening. The fact remains that this rap thing was create from poverty so when people are faced  with extreme conditions they will do whatever it takes to advance themselves . The funny part is society always focuses on the negative attention like artist going to jail , doing drugs , cheating on their women .The media is never around when the same people are doing charity events ,fundrasier, coat drives . So does rap music promote violence? My answer would be yes .  What  do you people think please share views
